This week we tweeted on innovation within sports, a field that I greatly enjoy following and would love to learn more about. These tweets were on the money(ball):
•Two young entrepreneurs out of USC have invented a revolutionary basketball shoe that adds 3 inches to your vertical leap. The bad news? The shoe was banned by the NBA. The good news? Sales have sky rocketed since they were banned. http://motv.st/ohPc1O
•If you’re interested in how innovative new analytical methods are being used in sports, then you must check out the Sloan Sports Analytics Conference. The festival of all things Moneyball has become pretty hip amongst sports geeks and with the aforementioned book soon to be released as a movie, this trend is set to continue. Watch some highlights of this year’s conference at http://motv.st/nJDH15
•Speaking of the Sports Analytics Conference, the founder of the conference and the GM of my Houston Rockets, Daryl Morey had a great guest blog post on HBR this week. He asserts that the key to better analytics is not better analysis but better data instead http://motv.st/nrJfB6
•Another HBR blog post asserts that the field of Human Resource Analytics has a lot to learn from the Houston Rockets. Can’t say I disagree! http://motv.st/nCj0rO
•I had a great time reading the biography of ESPN,”Those Guys Have All the Fun.” Here is a blog post about what I learned: http://t.co/k22d4IU
As always, it has been a great week of tweeting and we’re so glad that our social media foray allows us to explore such a wide variety of topics. As for next week, stay tuned to find out what our new theme will be!
